Jose Felipe Moya

Jose (Joe) Moya, 86, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023, after a lengthy, brave, and inspiring battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Joe was known for his honesty, kindness, sense of humor, generosity, and integrity. Joe was a well respected and successful car salesman who developed a devoted clientele during his 40-plus year career in Albuquerque. Joe loved cars and enjoyed restoring his 1962 Thunderbird during his retirement.

He is survived by his children, Joey Moya and his wife Lee Ann McMurry of Santa Fe, and Mona Lisa Martinez and her husband Michael of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Nicole Maloy, Victoria Moya, Jacquie Martinez, and Stowe McMurry and great-granddaughters Kodie Maloy and Harlie Maloy. He is also survived by his sister Roberta Mondragon.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, and his parents Donaciano and Adela Barela and Alfredo and Susie Moya.

The family wishes to thank those caregivers at Morningstar Senior Living, Carefree Assisted Living, and Roadrunner Hospice who treated Joe with such dignity and kindness throughout his battle with Alzheimer’s.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 2532 Vermont NE, Albuquerque. Internment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque.
