Jose D. Martinez

d. February 17, 2015

Jose D. Martinez died peacefully in his sleep in his home on Feb. 17, 2015 at the age of 87. He is survived by his children, JD, Dianne, Dulcy and Lori; and siblings Ronnie, Ricardo, Ola, and Crucita. He is preceded in death by his Brother, Tony S. Martinez. Jose was born in Moses, NM born to Antonio and Isaria Martinez. After graduating from High School in Clayton, NM he joined the Air Force and with his Wife, Stella raised a family worldwide including Germany, Turkey and Japan. He achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, E-8 and served his country for 27 distinguished years before retiring with his family in Albuquerque. He then worked for Wang Laboratories as a computer hardware technician. Since 1975 he was an active member of American Legion Post 99 and served on the board of trustees. He was always the first to volunteer to tar the roof of Post 99 on a hot summer day or fix a leaky, icy roof on a cold, windy winter day. He was a big hearted man whom everyone loved. His four children, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren thought the world of him because he always gave warm hugs with big smiles and was always there for each of them. Jose loved to RV and fish and have family reunions in the great outdoors which made wonderful memories for all five generations of our family. He knows Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Rosary will be recited on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. The family would like to thank all caregivers and the Presbyterian hospital staff and hospice for their dedicated care. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Wounded Warrior Project at WoundedWarriorProject.org.
