Jose Jimenez, age 69, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, was called to his eternal resting place on Sunday, February 11, 2024. He entered this world on August. 10, 1954, in Albuquerque, NM, born to Joe M. and Martha (Narvaiz) Jimenez. He was their first born, the oldest of 5.
Jose grew up in Albuquerque with a love of New Mexican food with green chile, baseball and spending time with his family. He attended Highland High School and received his diploma in 1972. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and spent most of his six-year deployment on the USS Dixie. Upon his return from the Navy, Jose continued his education at Albuquerque TVI. which gave him the opportunity to work at TVI, the IRS and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the mailroom. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.
In his free time, Jose enjoyed being a member of the U.S.S. Dixie Reunion Association for over 20 years, where he served as the secretary and treasurer for 15 years. He was always eager to attend the annual reunion and enjoyed himself while there. Jose also enjoyed going to the Isotopes baseball games with his mom every season. He had a passion for baseball.
Jose is survived by his loving mother, Martha N. Jimenez; his siblings, Juan (Irmgard), Albert (Stella), Reuben (Delia) and Lily; and his nephews and nieces. Jose was preceded in death by his father, Joe M. Jimenez. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life service will be held for family and friends on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Legacy Church - East Campus 4701 Wyoming Blvd. NE 87109. A reception will be held for family and friends on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Mick's Chile Fix located at 3351 Candelaria Rd. N.E. Suite A, Albuquerque, NM 87107.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Children's Cancer Fund of NM, a charity close to his heart.
