Jose M. (Mike) Garcia

Mike was born in Puerto de Luna on December 10, 1939, and died on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, in Albuquerque. He was a graduate of Santa Rosa High School. Mike retired from The City of Albuquerque as an Inspector after 28 years of service. He then retired again after 25 years as a Senior Engineer Technician from AMEC. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Ezequiel and Victoriana Garcia; brothers, Luis Garcia, Vidal Garcia and Isidro Garcia; sister, Josephina Garcia; daughter, Erica Chavez; and granddaughter, Tara Garcia. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Olivia (LaVern); three brothers, Nestor Garcia, Ezequiel and his wife, Oma Garcia, and Arsenio and his wife, Mary Garcia; two sisters, Tircia Garcia and Isabel Anaya; sons, Rick and his wife, Angela Garcia, Michael and his wife, Valarie Garcia, Orlando (Max) and his wife, Liz Chavez; daughters, Eileen Romero and her husband, David Romero and Yvette Chavez and the grandson he raised, Andrew Chavez; 12 grandchildren, Crystal, Nicole, Ariel, Chelsea Rae, David, Amanda, Miguel, Gabe, Josh, Nichole, James and Angel; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 7:00 pm at FRENCH - Lomas. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Parish, 5310 Claremont NE with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
