Saturday, February 15th, 1958 - Friday, August 19th, 2022
Joey, age 64, died peacefully at his home in Albuquerque, NM with his loving family by his side. On this day, he lost his battle to pancreatic cancer.
Joey was born in Albuquerque, NM to Pedro and Georgia Gonzales; and retired from the City of Albuquerque. Joey was happily married to Marlene Gonzales, who was his partner in life for forty-five years.
Joey is survived by his wife, Marlene; two boys, Joseph and Robert Gonzales; one granddaughter, Kaylee Gonzales; father, Pedro Gonzales; five brothers, Raul (wife Connie), Pedro (wife Carmen), Johnny (wife Mary), David (wife Evelyn), and Michael Gonzales (girlfriend Nancy); five sisters, Lupe Romero (husband David), Josie Ewing (husband Paul), Jessie Barajas (husband Juan), Linda Hernandez, and Angela Lopez (husband Morris); and several nieces and nephews.
Joey was preceded by death by his mother, Georgia Gonzales.
Besides spending time with his family and friends, Joey had a passion for horses, and other farm animals; and he had been a member of the First Impression Rodeo Club. One of his most enjoyable things to do was to watch his granddaughter participate in rodeos. His love for music and instruments was larger than life; he played for many years in the band La Gavilla, as a drummer - while also continuing with the guitar for his granddaughter, Kaylee. Joey was on the board of the Atrisco Valley Little League, where he coached and umped for many years. Joey was a loving and caring man, and his sense of humor was the best. He touched many lives with his love, generosity, and passion for helping others.
