(Known as RAY by family and JOE by co-workers) Age 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, died peacefully and went home to our Lord on Friday, September 12, 2014. He was the loving husband to his wife of 44 years, Nora Armijo; loving father of two daughters, Cathy Orten and husband, Alex of Anchorage, AK and Cynthia Armijo and husband, Shawn Fink of Albuquerque, NM; and loving grandfather of five grandchildren, Ryan and Jacob of Anchorage and Cesar, Ava and Winter of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his step-grandson, Radik, of Denver; two sisters, Ruby Padilla and husband, Aris of Albuquerque and Dolores Boughner and husband, John of Denver, CO; four sisters-in-law, Josie Garcia of Albuquerque, Hilda Armijo of San Diego, CA, Maggie Delgado and Eva Tafoya; brothers-in-law, Joe Eloy Esquibel and Leo Tafoya; cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends. Ray was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Armijo; mother, Sarah Montoya, brothers, Robert Armijo and Chris Garcia. Ray retired from the U.S. Post Office 25 years ago after 30 years of service as a letter carrier and mail clerk. He was proud to serve his country as a U.S. Navy sailor on the USS Bennington. Ray is known for his love of golf; meticulous care of home, yard and vehicles; hilarious sense of humor (Rayisms); passion for discussing current newsworthy events; his "Big Red" pickup; crab leg buffets as often as possible; and sharing his love of travel with his wife. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those many hearts he touched but we know that he will enjoy the golf courses in Heaven with his brothers.
