Jose (Abe) Jaramillo, dedicated husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2024, surrounded by his family. Abe was born May 6, 1935 in El Rito, NM and was known for the love he gave his family, his strong faith in God, and his service for others. Abe served his country overseas in Taiwan and Okinawa as part of the United States Army. After attending barber school in Pueblo, CO, he returned to Chama, NM and was a proud barber for over 40 years. He served the Chama community as Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, served as a council member for the Housing Authority & the Dunham Clinic, and was very involved in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church. After retirement, Abe moved with his wife Vangie to Albuquerque, NM to be close to his family. For those who knew Abe, his positivity, smile, and love were infectious to all. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Abel and Estellita (Urtado) Jaramillo, and brothers Eppie, Paul and Benny Jaramillo. He is survived by his wife, Vangie Jaramillo, who was the love of his life for 67 years of marriage; his children (and spouses) Kathryn Ovalle (Joe) The Colony, TX, Phillip Jaramillo (Betty) Tucson, AZ and Valerie Biederwolf (Tom) Albuquerque, NM ; his eight grandchildren, Michelle Corrington (Sean), Alycia Ovalle, Daniela Jaramillo, Kyle Biederwolf, Noah Jaramillo, Adam Biederwolf, Elizabeth Jaramillo and Sarah Jaramillo; and his three great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Avery and Sutton Corrington. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael and Richard Jaramillo, and sisters Nena Archuleta, Irene Martinez, and Chon Black. He leaves many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends and neighbors. A rosary will be held Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 6:00pm at Shrine of St. Bernadettes. A funeral mass will be held Monday, April 22, 2024 at 10:00am at Shine of St. Bernadettes followed by a reception of life in the parish hall. A private burial will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 10:00am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
