Jorge Efrain Romero Lozano, 66, passed away surrounded by family on March 9, 2021 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Jorge was born in Huánuco, Peru on January 19, 1955 and raised in Lima, Peru. At the age of 15, he came to the United States as an exchange student to Price, Utah. He attended the University of Utah where he earned a BS in Electrical Engineering.
Jorge was fortunate to be in a career for which he was passionate. From the age of 13, at the rise of semiconductors, Jorge found his passion. This interest led to a fulfilling thirty-year career, the majority at Intel Corporation, until his retirement in February 2020.
Jorge was a man who found great joy in life and approached every moment with curiosity and a sense of adventure. You can't find a picture of him in which he isn't grinning ear to ear. He loved to travel and to share new experiences with his loved ones. His generosity and warmth will be remembered by those who were lucky enough to know him.
Jorge was devout in his Catholic faith, which provided him great comfort throughout his life and especially during his illness.
One of Jorge's greatest achievements and pleasures in life was his family. He was determined to provide his children with every opportunity and beamed with pride over their accomplishments. He provided infinite love and support.
Jorge is survived by his wife, Amy, his two children, Emily and Ryan, and his brother, Jose, sister-in-law, Beverly, nephew J.D., and niece Roxanne, along with many other beloved family members. What his family would like him to be remembered for is his unmatched positivity, his sense of adventure, his passion for his work, and his undying love for his family and friends, who he viewed like family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are welcome to join us for a Catholic prayer service on Friday, March 12 at 1pm at Risen Savior Catholic Church followed by a graveside service at Mount Calvary Cemetery at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jorge's name to Catholic Relief Services (
