Jonathan David Silva
Jon
The name Jonathan means God's Precious Gift and David, Beloved.
He was certainly All of that.
Jon passed away suddenly on Monday, November 13, 2023.
God called him Home early.
Jon was a trusting, optimistic, and hopeful individual, despite facing illness in his last months. His parents Roy and Sylvia Silva are left to mourn his loss, along with his dear brothers Benjamin Silva (accompanied by wife Cindy, Julia, and Eva nieces) and Emerson Silva. Jon also leaves behind his maternal Aunt Kathy (and Paul) and cousin Matthew (with Christy), as well as his Uncle David (and Judie) and cousins Sonya, Dorothy, and Joseph. He was predeceased by his Uncle Billy and all of his grandparents - Joseph and Jessie Mello and Luigi and Nennele Silva - who immigrated from Northern Italy.
Those fortunate enough to cross paths with Jon have described him as kind-hearted, compassionate, gracious, and generous. He believed in helping those in need, always saying that you never really know what the person’s circumstances are. Jon, himself, was courageous.
Spirituality played a significant role in Jon's life. He attended Catholic Mass the day before he passed away and was confirmed at Risen Savior. Born in Santa Rosa, CA, he graduated from La Cueva High School and held two different certificates from CNM.
He formerly took classes in Shao- Lin Kung Fu. This was an impressive feat as Jon stood 6’ 4 “ tall, the tallest person ever in our family.
He always enjoyed Nature, family camping and especially hikes with his brother Emerson. He played the drums and was a gifted artist at drawing.
Jon loved all animals but especially cats. His last feline companion was named Boy, because Jon appreciated simplification, things pared to their essence. He named his cars, (his immediate family does this, as well)... the last one was Sparky, the one before aptly named Puppy (it didn’t have much horsepower).
We will miss his insightful, creative comments. “Power of Blue” refers to the color, as one’s deepest thoughts, and the boundless expanse of the ocean and sky. Even from a young age, Jon displayed a knack for creative problem-solving, considering connecting portable sheds as a potential solution to homelessness long before the advent of tiny home villages.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who provided care, friendship, and love to Jon throughout his relatively short lifespan. His family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time.
We will Always remember and miss you, Jon.
We Love you.
