Jon A. Peterson (89) passed away December 16, 2024 following a series of illnesses.
Jon moved to Albuquerque in 1951. He attended Highland High School when it opened. Jon joined the US Air Force during the Korean War and served primarily as a technician in development of an early flight simulator. Afterward he worked at Cape Canaveral and in Sunnyvale, CA as an instrumentation specialist. We liked to tease him about being a rocket scientist. Returning to Albuquerque Jon worked for various radio and early TV stations. He told stories of developing kinescope film at KUNM in the back of a toilet tank. Later Jon did sound and low voltage electrical work at Albuquerque Public Schools for many years until retirement. He loved working for and around the children.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents John T and Esther Peterson, his brother Robert (Reyna), and his son, Jon Tripp Peterson. He is survived by his wife, Carol, brother "Pete" David (Lynda), daughter-in-law, Jaime Campbell, and nephew Christopher, nieces Melissa Schooley (William) and Melynda Sanchez (Jose)and beloved grand and great niblings.
