Johnnie Edward Barker Jr

Johnnie Edward Barker, Jr, age 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2015 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lynne Barker; his two daughters, Stacy Stone and husband, Gary of Abernathy, TX and Mary Jo Brown and fiancee, James Thomas of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his siblings, Carolyn Madsen and husband, Larry of Gardnerville, NV, Bob Barker and wife, Betty of Savannah, TX, Martin Barker and wife, Annette of Albuquerque, and Maggie Barker of Mesa, AZ; an aunt and uncle; nieces and nephews; many cousins; and numerous friends. Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Pat Barker. He was born in Gallup, NM in 1942 and attended St. Therese School and graduated from Valley High School in 1960. Johnnie entered the United States Army and proudly served in Germany during the Cold War in the artillery division. His lifelong career was in the banking industry where he worked for Albuquerque National/Sunwest Bank until his retirement. Johnnie was a member of the Elks Lodge 461 and served as Grand Exalted Ruler. His sense of humor and boisterous laugh, his outgoing personality, true generosity and friendship, and his hospitality will be dearly missed. Music was an integral part of his life. He was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, and brother and will be remembered by all who knew him. Friends may visit FRENCH - Wyoming Friday, September 11, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of his Life will be held at FRENCH -Wyoming, Saturday, September 12, 2015, 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow and interment will take place at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
