It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John (Johnny) Theodore McGuire, III, age 37, on Sunday, January 1, 2023, in Rio Rancho, NM. Our beloved son, brother, husband, father, and friend was born on September 30, 1985.
John was a lover of the outdoors. He was most peaceful camping beneath the stars or casting a baited hook out into lakes, rivers, and streams. His love for the wilderness led John to begin a career as a wildland firefighter with the Bureau of Land Management in 2009. As he fought to save our forests and wildlife, John satisfied certification requirements to obtain his CDL and EMT credentials. In 2016, his love for preserving life inspired John to enlist in the New Mexico Army National Guard as a Combat Medic. While in the Guard, John joined the Socorro Fire Department in 2018. In 2019, John devotedly accepted a deployment with the National Guard to Africa. He continued his service stateside during the Coronavirus pandemic and was most recently promoted to (E-6) Staff Sergeant.
John will eternally be remembered for his boundless loyalty, gregarious charisma, witty humor, abundant generosity, courageous disposition, and most of all his remarkable, fun, loving, kind, unique personality.
John is survived by his mother, Diane (Kimball) Silva and husband, Mark; his father, John McGuire II and wife, Sindi; his older brother, Sean McGuire and wife, Jessica; his older sister, Dawn McGuire; his wife, Jennifer McGuire; his son, John McGuire IV, and his daughter, Harper McGuire. Left behind are also countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and acquaintances.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023, at FRENCH - Westside, at 2:00 p.m. We would like to thank the staff of FRENCH - Westside, and for all the thoughts and prayers from loved ones and friends near and far.
