John Mac Yost

December 25, 1942 — July 22, 2021

John Mac Yost, age 78, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. He died comfortably with family by his side. He was born on Christmas day in Borger, TX; served in the Air Force and while working for United Airlines met his wife as a result of a quarter bet! They were married in Denver in 1969, and then moved to Albuquerque to run Traxco Inc. and Midco Roofing/HVAC. He was a true entrepreneur and lifelong learner who enjoyed careers in construction and real estate to the end. He enjoyed socializing with everyone he met. His outlandish stories will be dearly missed. His hobbies included chatting over a good glass of bourbon or cup of coffee, reading, listening to music, playing the bagpipes and ever learning about history, politics, geology and anything mechanical. He was a Master Mason of Temple Lodge #6 AF&AM, as well a member of the Scottish Rite of Santa Fe and the Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple.

He is survived by his daughter, Jaymie Duneman (Chis); sons, John C. Yost (Katie) of Chandler, AZ and Mike Yost (Jessica); and grandchildren, Samantha, Sydnie, Orin and Sarah Duneman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jinx, of 47 years; and parents, Paul and Margaret Yost.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 5, 2021, 2:00 p.m., at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in John's memory to the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
