John Thomas Wood went to be with His Lord and Savior on Monday, May 10, 2021 at the age of 89. He was born September 12, 1931, in Stratford County, OK. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Z. Wood and daughter, Dixie L. Lutrell; parents, Rex and Goldie (Gregory) Wood; brothers, Cliff, Elmo, and Thurman. He is survived by his wife, Jean Marie (Prusak) Wood; daughters, Connie Franklin and husband Vernon of Kilgore, TX, Elizabeth M Prusak of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by sister, Betty of Mesa, AZ. He has three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He graduated from Latta High school with honors from the state of Oklahoma. He served honorably in the U.S. Army (as Corporal) during the Korean Conflict at the Medical Hospital in Bussac, France and in the reserves until 1960. He, along with brothers Cliff and Thurman, started Sunstate Plumbing in Albuquerque where he worked until 1969 at which time, he moved his family back to Ada, OK and worked independently as a plumber. He had a knack for repairing just about anything and taking one person's trash and turning it into something useful. He also had his pilot's license and enjoyed flying around the state of NM. He had a great passion for Southern Gospel music and was willing to share from his vast collection of music. He married his second wife Jean M. Wood on June 25, 2004 and they enjoyed 17 years of marriage living in both Ada and Albuquerque. John was a friendly man that enjoyed starting a conversation with anyone he met. He liked to discuss the Bible and share the many stories from his life. He will be missed.
A visitation will be held on Thursday June 3, 2021 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at FRENCH - Wyoming with a committal service to follow at 1:30pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial donations be made to a Veterans organization of your choice.
