John Raymond Sampson, Jr.

John R. Sampson, Jr. died Sunday, May 5th, 2024 of natural causes. John was born on Sunday, May 15th, 1949 in Las Vegas, NM. His father, John R. Sampson, and his mother, Constance Galassini Sampson, and his brother Major Clarence A. Sampson, preceded his death. He is survived by his Aunts Harriet Mathis in Florida; Susie Turner in Albuquerque, NM and his niece, Tonya Sampson Kramer and her family, husband Michael, their daughters Nicole, Kaytlin, Emily and his great nephew, Mason in Helotes, TX. He remained close to his extended family Aunt Geraldine (Buddy) and cousins Danny, Derek, Donnie and Donna Hensly in Florida; Jimmie Lynn Lee (Sandy) and Jerry Wayne Mathis in Florida; Becky Galassini Coffman (Richard) and their children Chris (Cerra) and Jacob (Ashlynn) in Albuquerque, NM; Lisa Galassini Muhn in Las Cruces, NM; Bobby Barris (Roger) in Silver City, NM. John had no children, but he had hundreds of "kids" he taught over the years as a teacher in Cuba, New Mexico. As a testimony to his life as a teacher, coach and mentor many of his "kids" stayed in contact with him and visited him often. He is remembered for his sharp mind, quick wit and joking about football rivalries. He will not be forgotten, forever in our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held the week of Thanksgiving 2024 in Albuquerque, NM.
