John Bautista Rey

John Bautista Rey, 95 died Thursday, January 4, 2018. John was born in Albuquerque, NM on May 20, 1922 to Marcial and Maria Esparza Rey. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Marcial and Luis Rey; and sister Susana Chacon. He is survived by his brother Jose Rey and his sister Theresa Valdez (Louis) and several nephews and nieces.

John graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in 1940. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He attended the University of NM. He obtained his brokerage license and worked for E.F. Hutton. John enjoyed playing golf and tennis and was a great dancer. He enjoyed classical and big band music. John spent most of his life caring for his mother. His selfless, loving devotion was returned to him by his niece, Ramona Herrera. "Amor con Amor se paga".

Rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
