John Povolny

POVOLNY, JOHN HENRYAge 90, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret Povolny; daughter, Marcia Pauly-Burton and husband, Bruce Burton; son, Jeffrey Povolny and wife, Maryse Loertsher; son, Dr. Brian Povolny; daughter, Cynthia and husband, Dr. Joel Teicher; son, Dr. William Povolny and wife, Rina Schumer; and his sister, Doris Herron. John also leaves behind his eleven grandchildren; Malinda Sutherlin, Timothy Pauly, Christina Pauly, Jeremy Povolny, Tanya Povolny, Stefan Povolny, Mariel Povolny, Zachary Teicher, Amelia Teicher, Maia Povolny and Eli Povolny. Also, John was a great-grandfather to Lila Sutherlin, Felix Sutherlin and Orion Tarr. He was preceded in death by his father, John Povolny, mother, Ernestine Povolny (Ziegler) and his sister, Ruth Povolny. John spent 33 years working at NASA, as an aeronautical engineer. During his time with NASA, he worked in variety of roles. Some of his loves were the outdoors, skiing, fishing, and spending time with his family at Lake Penage. He also enjoyed listening to music, particularly opera. A Memorial will be held Sunday, May 19, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at Casa Rodena Winery, 733 Chavez Rd NW Los Ranchos.
