John Richard Pickering

John was born in San Antonio, Texas and lived many of his early years both on Randolph AFB and Brooks AFB. as his father was Active-Duty Air Force. He graduated from Crossland High School in Maryland while his father was stationed at the Pentagon.  John eventually migrated to New Mexico where he completed his college education at the University of New Mexico.  

John R. Pickering has succeeded Will Jackson as the Sandia Heights Services Manager effective November 5, 1999. John has worked for the Sandia Companies for 21 years, beginning with the Utility Co., installing water and sewer systems for the community. During that four year tenure with Utility, he worked winters at the Sandia Peak Ski area.

After returning to school, he transferred to the Sanda Peak Team Co. John earned a bachelor's degree at the University of New Mexico and remained at the Tramway facility following graduation until his appointment as Service Manager.

He is survived by his sister, Patricia J. Foster of Denton, TX; brother-in-law, Ronald Aparo of Denton, TX; sister, Peggy J. Sumpter of Tijeras, NM; and brother-in-law, Blake Sumpter of Tijeras, NM.
