John Matson Pearce

John Matson Pearce, 88, went to be with Jesus on December 20, 2018.  He is survived by his children, Theresa Salmon and husband Jerald of Albuquerque, Cherie Sager and husband Wayne of Midland, TX;  grandchildren, Joshua Salmon and wife Carleigh of Las Cruces, NM, Tamra Aragon and husband Antonio of Albuquerque, Shelby Sager, Olivia Pomponio, and Gregory Sager of Midland, TX; great-grandchildren, Amzie Joy and Joshua Grayson Salmon, and Karson Pomponio; and his sister, Overa Gibson of Albuquerque; as well as many other relatives and friends.

John was proceeded in death by his beautiful and loving wife, Marjorie; and his parents, Jasper and Annabelle.  John served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War, as well as working on the pipeline at Prudhoe Bay, AK.  He retired from Robert B. Gibson Auto Sales where he worked for over 35 years.

Growing up in Lindrith, New Mexico, John enjoyed the outdoors, trapping with his father, hunting deer, elk, and bear.  He loved fishing and just breathing the country air.  You could be sure when you asked how he was doing, the reply would always be, “I’m in great shape for the shape I’m in”.

John was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather, who always made sure his family had everything they needed.  He was a strong yet sensitive man who loved the Lord with all of his heart.  John always had a story to tell about his life experiences that everyone loved to hear.  His memory and stories will live in our hearts.  Without a doubt, John is a man who will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him, but we will look forward to seeing him again someday in heaven.

Friends may visit FRENCH-Lomas, Wednesday,  December 26, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.   Services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at FRENCH-Lomas with interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m.   In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in John’s name to children’s charity of your choice.  Please visit our online guestbook for John at www.FrenchFunerals.com.
