John O'Malley

John O'Malley, age 59, "The BEST Pops in the world" passed away on December 23, 2012 after a sudden and short illness. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Karen; their son, Kenneth; brothers, Martin O'Malley and wife, Linda and Brian O'Malley and wife, Michaela; sister, Caryn and husband, Ted Barre, all of Albuquerque; mother-in-law, Phyliss Breig; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Kristen Breig, sister-in-law, Sandra Mullins and husband, Michael, all of San Diego, CA; and nephews and nieces, Colin O'Malley and wife, Dena, Lt. Col. Derek O'Malley and wife, Samantha, Ryan and Sean Barre, Shane and Erin O'Malley, Brady and Claire O'Malley, Conner O'Malley, and Andrew Mullins. John was preceded in death by his parents, Christine and James E. O'Malley; his brother, Michael O'Malley; father-in-law, Kenneth Breig; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Breig Jr. John was a graduate of St. Pius X High School Class of 1971. After graduation, he traveled to San Diego to attend Grossmonte College where he earned his degree in nursing and met the love of his life, Karen. John was employed by HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital caring for many of your families and our friends for the last 20 years. Singing and playing his guitar were John's passions. Our family has countless memories of "O'Malley" jam sessions led by our dear John. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, January 18, 2013, 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
