John M. McOwen passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29 in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 87, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Dearly loved and desperately missed, John is survived by his wife Kathleen McOwen, daughter Lisa Schall (Brian), grandchildren Katie Schall and Owen Schall, and multiple brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
John was born on November 16, 1936 in Cincinnati, OH, the cherished son of the late Anna McOwen and William C. McOwen. He attended Withrow High School and the University of Cincinnati, working as a pharmacist for Children's Hospital and then as a forensic chemist and explosives expert for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms for over 30 years.
John was an active member of Risen Savior Catholic Church and volunteered with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for 30 years, in both Atlanta and Albuquerque, where he and his wife helped many people in need. He also served as past president.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Tom McOwen (Nancy), and half-brothers William H. McOwen and Robert McOwen.
