John Edward Love

LOVE, John Edward Age 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 2003, died Monday, March 17, 2014. He is survived by his great-nephew, Dwight E. Robinson of Mississippi; great-niece, Amber A. Lamote and husband, Jeff of Cullman Alabama; great-great-nephew, Karr Barnum Robinson; and great-great-nieces, Joy Alexandra and Josephine August Lamote. John was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Dovie Mae Love; sister, Verna Mae Williams; niece, Sandra Ann Robinson; and great-niece, Holly Kirsten Robinson. Mr. Love graduated from Albuquerque High School. John served in the US Army during WWII as a member of the New Mexico National Guard. He was one of the last survivors of the Bataan Death March. After WWII, John continued his education and graduated from UNM in 1950 on the GI Bill. He went to work for Conoco Oil Company and retired as an executive. He had lived in El Paso, Ft. Worth, and Houston with Conoco, and after retirement he relocated to Durango, CO and Arlington, TX before returning to Albuquerque. Cremation has taken place and he will be interred at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
