John A. Lewin, age 94, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960 passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 11, 2023.
John is survived by Eileen, his wife of 70 years; three daughters, a son-in-law, six grandchildren, and five great-grandsons, enjoying them all through the years. He was preceded in death by one son and a granddaughter.
John was born in Brooklyn, New York to Adolph and Elsie Lewin. He grew up in Brooklyn, attended East New York Vocational School and was an Eagle Scout with Troop 230. John left Brooklyn in 1960 arriving in Albuquerque where he began working for the next 23 years with Sandia National Labs. He belonged to Friendship Force getting to visit many countries, meeting new friends along the way. John started square dancing in 1964, then became a square dance caller for 17 years.
He traveled all over the world calling which he loved to no end. He rode in hot air balloons three exciting times, loved to play his banjo (especially at parties) and rode mules up and down the Grand Canyon. John and Eileen had a wonderful life together. He is now at rest.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., FRENCH - Westside.
