John Inglis, age 74, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021. He was born in Omaha, NE and graduated from University of Nebraska at Omaha. He immediately entered the Air Force Pilot Training program. John retired from the US Air Force in 1992 as a Lt. Colonel. He served for 21 years as a pilot of C130s and C5s and served in Operation Desert Storm. After retiring from the Air Force, he went to nursing school, earned his RN and worked as a Cardiac ICU nurse to put his three daughters through college. He loved listening to music of all genres, riding his bike, going to the gym, hiking, fishing, and spending time on a river raft.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughters and their spouses, Amy and David Varner, Heather and Cory Lyle, Gayle Inglis-Edward; and his seven grandchildren, Jordan Varner, Jacob Varner, Aidan Lyle, Julia Lyle, Jack Edward, Bryce Edward, and Sarah Edward. He is also survived by his sister, Della Southern and her husband, Tom. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Max Jordan and his wife, Cindy; and his sister-in-law, Lisa Corneilson and her husband, John. There are numerous nieces and nephews in the family as well. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Helen W. Inglis.
