Jesus called John Dee Huskey home on October 20, 2021. He was born in Sevierville, Tennessee, on December 21, 1927, to Aaron L. Huskey and Ella Whaley Huskey. He grew up in the Smokey Mountains and left home to join the Navy. While stationed in San Diego, California, he met and married his first wife, Joan Williams Huskey. They raised their three sons in Albuquerque, New Mexico, while John worked at Mountain Bell until he retired in 1982. During these years they attended and served the Lord at Hermosa Baptist Church.
In 1985, John met and married Gloria McIntyre Huskey. They lived in Elephant Butte, New Mexico, for 32 years where they were very active serving the Lord and helping to build First Baptist Church of Tor C. During this time, John renewed friendships with other Mountain Bell retirees as well as making many new friends. Together they all shared a common passion for fishing on the lake.
John is survived by his loving family; older sister, Georgia Lee Kluge; brother-in-law, Manson Ogle; sons, Ronald and wife, Pat; Wayne and wife, Renee; Scot and wife, Janice; stepson, John McIntyre and wife, Carey; step daughter-in-law, Monica McIntyre; grandchildren Jared, Brian, Trisha, Rebecca, Tonya, Travis, Aaron and Jamie; great grandchildren Michael, Justin, Scot, Kayla, Trinity, Clara, Ella, Jack, Lily, Everly, Otis and Vivienne; and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings; both beloved wives; and stepson, Ernest McIntyre.
A memorial service will be held at 9:00am on Monday, October 25, 2021, at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
