John Sebastian Hernandez was born August 25, 1927, at White House Station, Grand County, Utah He died at the age of 94 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico.
Johnny lived his entire life in Cuba, Sandoval County, New Mexico. He was a Jack of many trades. He was a Truck driver, a Welder, a Logger, a Saw Miller (He owned and operated Young's Sawmill.) and if he absolutely had to, he would get on a horse and chase a cow.
Johnny served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was trained as a sniper and was second best out of ten thousand men with a rifle.
Johnny married Eleanor Law in March of 1953. The two of them spent 55 years together as husband and wife until Eleanor died in April of 2008. They are the parents of four children: John Young Hernandez (deceased), Ruth Adelaide Hernandez, Harriet Grace Hernandez O'Barr (Yancy), and George Walter Hernandez. They have 13 Grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Johnny lived a long, full life. He was always willing to help anyone who might need a helping hand no matter the time of day or the problem. He will be greatly missed by his family members and friends who knew and loved him.
A Visitation for John will be held on October 14, 2021, at FRENCH-Wyoming at 10:00a.m. to 11:30a.m. Interment will follow at 1:30p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
