a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. A loving, dedicated husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann; sons, Charles, Lee, and John, all living in Albuquerque; and nephews, Roger and Rodney. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward James Hart; his wife, Jean; and son, Robert. John was born in Albuquerque on July 6, 1924. He attended Albuquerque High School, Baylor University, and University of New Mexico receiving degrees in Business Management, and Health and Physical Education. He was a letterman football player at all three schools while also enjoying competitive softball and skiing with his family. He was an avid Lobo football/basketball fan and contributor, regularly attending their games. John proudly served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy for three years of active duty and 20 years of reserve service. After enjoying work for 39 years at Sandia National Laboratories, he retired as Manager of their Purchasing Department. John was a gentle, kind, and loving person who left an indelible impression on all whom he touched. He will be truly missed. Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo del Norte Blvd. NE, followed by a reception at the church. The family request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Assn. NM Chapter, ( www.alz.org/newmexico ) or the Animal Humane Society of NM ( www.animalhumanenm.org ).
