John F. Halper, Sr.

The “Highway Guy of Jemez Springs” is now walking the heavenly streets paved of gold with his Lord after passing away peacefully, Sunday, January 28, 2018, at the age of 89. Preceded in death by parents, Herman and Marie Halper; brother-in-law, Ken Miller; and granddaughter, Ashley Smith, he is survived by his children, John Halper, Jr., Laura Smith, Paula (Joe) Long, Maria Halper, and James Halper. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Amber (Joe) Marcum, Matthew Smith, Christopher Long, Andrea Edlebeck, and Alyssa (Travis) Leigh, and blessed with great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Kayle, Thomas, Leah, and James. He is further survived by brothers, Chuck Halper, Herman (Madeline) Halper; sister, Rose Miller, dearest Erma, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

John, aka “Fuzzy”, will be fondly remembered as a life-loving man, clean-highway protector, respected custom-home contractor and businessman, adventurer, toddy-time lover, proud patriot and U.S. Marine veteran, who served in the Korean War.

A Rosary will be recited Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. Friends and family may visit beginning at 9:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
