Jack Griffin
September 20, 1947-September 15, 2018
Mr. John “Jack” Griffin, 70, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 of cancer.
Jack was born on September 20, 1947 in Franklin, New Jersey. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lynn, and two children: Nicole of Arlington, VA, and Patrick of Albuquerque. He is preceded in death by his father, Eddie; mother, Helen; and brother, Fred.
He loved fishing, the outdoors, and the mountains. In 1976, he and Lynn traveled cross-country in a Volkswagen camper van, visiting all the country’s natural wonders. It was one of the highlights of his life.
In his heart, Jack always wanted to be a mountain man, living by his own rules a hundred miles from anything. But he loved his wife and children more than he wanted to be a hermit, so the closest he got in life was a house in Albuquerque with a view of the Sandia Mountains. His family expects that, in death, his spirit is roaming the Rockies, fly fishing and panning for gold.
The family will be holding a memorial service at the Walpack Inn in Layton, NJ on Sunday, October 28 at 1:00 pm. After the memorial, his ashes will be laid to rest at Flat Brook, New Jersey, his favorite fishing spot as a boy.
In lieu of flowers, we would be honored by contributions to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation: https://walkrun.themmrf.org/washingtondc18/jackgriffinmemorial
