After five years of battling Myelofibrosis cancer, John passed away March 27, 2025.
John was stationed in Vietnam in the USAF and after returning home, John began his career in the Institutional ware washing, laundry, and housekeeping field. He became a District Manager and then a Regional Vice President with Economics Laboratory. After retiring from EL, John opened his chemical company, Economy Sales & Service. John enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating, and gardening.
John was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, and served on the SPOA and LPDG Homeowners Associations. John was also a FCPA water systems operator for the state of Colorado.
John is survived by his wife, Sally of 50 years; daughter, Annette Chewning (Don); son, John Fitpatrick; daughter, Cathleen Fitzpatrick-Grimwood (Stan) of PA; and his four grandchildren of PA, Brianna and Thomas Kotkin, and Shawn and Bridget Freed. John is also survived by his siblings, James Fitzpatrick & family of Yuma, AZ, Mary Frances Kirrane & family of GA, and Brian Fitzpatrick and family of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Fitzpatrick and father, John Fitzpatrick.
The family would like to thank the Veterans Center of Albuquerque for their dedication and unconditional support. A Celebration of Life funeral mass will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Ave NW, downtown, Thursday April 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later time.
