John Wirt Fisk, 75, died on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at his home in Artesia, New Mexico. He was born in Oklahoma City to Frank B. Fisk and Evelyn Rachael (Harmon) Fisk on Wednesday, June 5, 1946. He had a prestigious career as an attorney in Artesia for 45 years and was recognized for helping clients work though difficult situations and continue forward with rewarding lives.
He grew up in Carter, Oklahoma and moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1958. He graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1964 where he was active in student council, wrestling, and football. He attended the University of New Mexico on scholastic and football scholarships, graduating in 1970 and from the UNM School of Law in 1974. John worked as an oilfield roughneck for many summers in Farmington, New Mexico. In 1975 he moved to Artesia and established a law office. John was active in BPOE, filling many challenging and rewarding offices. John was a master cook, sportsman, friend, and father.
John was preceded in death by his parents. His is survived by his daughter, Emily Herrell of Carlsbad; sons, Jeff, William, and Michael; several grandchildren; brother, Frank and wife, Frances of Albuquerque; and companion, Jana Williams.
A Memorial Service will be held at a future date.
