John Edwin Brink, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather was called to his eternal resting place on July 24, 2023.
John was born on January 9, 1936 in Muncy, Pennsylvania to Kenneth Rossmore and Cora Bond (Colley) Brink. Attending Williamsport Technical Institute/High School, he graduated in 1953 with an Air Craft Mechanics License. He continued his education there at Lycoming College earning and Associates degree.
During high school he worked at a bowling alley, literally as a human pinsetter. He recalled positioning himself above the pin deck and dreaded the men who threw the ball with such force that the pins would fly up and hit him in the back. John was also a baseball coach for the team at the local YMCA and church team in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
In 1954 John joined the United States Air Force where he was an instructor in Jet Fighter Mechanics. While stationed at Amarillo Air Force Base he met his first wife, Marlene. They welcomed their first daughter Sheree in 1956. After honorably serving his country, John and his family moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma, where he began his career in finance, as assistant manager with Dial Finance. Soon after, their family grew with daughter Kim born in 1960.
In 1963 his company moved him to Wichita Falls, Texas, promoting him to branch manager and again in 1966 to Albuquerque to manage a larger office. In 2001 he retired as Senior Vice President with New Mexico Educators Credit Union, now NUSENDA. John's career in finance spanned over 40 years.
John was raised in the Lutheran Faith and served as an altar boy. Most recently, he was a member of Valley View Christian Church in Edgewood.
In 1978 he married the love of his life, Marjorie (Tisch) Duda, spending the last 45 years together. John and Marji were members of the Good Sam RV Club. Both were actively involved at both the state and national levels. They traveled extensively throughout the country as Ambassadors and to the Good Sam Club Rallies on both coasts.
John and Marji were both members of Albuquerque Consumer Credit Association. John served as President for ACCA and as district President for Consumer Credit Association.
John loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. As a youth, he and his brother Bill would hunt together. Not once, but twice he had the hunt of a lifetime for Oryx on the White Sands Missile Range. This is a classic safari style spot-and-stalk or tracking style hunt, and he was successful on both occasions.
Survived by his loving and caring wife of 45 years, Marjorie, daughter Sheree and husband John Doll of Rio Rancho; daughter Kim and husband John Lepore, of Panama City Beach, Florida; son George and wife Rainy Duda, of Newport News, Virginia; son David and wife Milan Duda of Lorton, Virginia; son Kevin and wife Roberta Duda of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Carrie, Krista, Austin, Megan, Adam, Jason, Garrett, Kaylyn, Brandon, Jin and Dojin; great grandchildren, Colleen, Raistlin, Oliver, Harper, Michael, Colton, Theodore D. and Theodore S, brother Donald L. and wife Elaine Brink of Indian Wells, California; sister-in-law Patricia L. Brink of Globe, Arizona.
John was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Marlene Winton, son John Edwin Brink, Jr., and brother Kenneth R. Brink.
