John Earl Baldwin, known by all as Earl, was born in Albuquerque, NM on December 6, 1939, and died in Canyon Lake, TX on February 4, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Katharine Baldwin; his sister, Beverly Adams; and his wife, Kathy. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Nelda; and four sons, blended from his two marriages, Sean and Scott Baldwin, and Jim and Faron Smith. Additionally, he leaves behind four grandchildren, Shelby Smith, Carissa Baldwin, Kyndle Smith, and Kyle Baldwin, as well as two daughters-in-law, Melissa Smith and Joanne Baldwin. Earl graduated from Albuquerque High School (AHS) in 1957, where he played sports in baseball, basketball, and wrestling, and was a drummer in the AHS band. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1958, serving as a Dental Technician for 21 years, and retired in 1978 as a Dental Technician Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the Navy he enjoyed a second career of 31 years, remaining in the dental industry working with Austin Dental Equipment Company (A-DEC) as the Director of Technical Training at the home office in Newberg, OR. He was promoted in 1988 to be a Sales Representative for Government Services, and relocated to the San Antonio, TX area. He retired from A-DEC in 2009. Earl lived a full life and had an impact on so many people of every age and type. He will be missed by all.
