John P. Anaya went with the Lord on Saturday, May 31, 2014. He was born on October 20, 1926. He was raised in Stanley, NM. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Clarabelle, with whom he shared his life for 62 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Basilio and Miquelita Anaya; his in-laws, Sie and Verna Gonzales; brothers, Fred, Tony, and Joe; and sister, Simona Davis. John is also survived by his daughter, Pamela Jean Archibeque and husband, Ivan; and by his son, Dale Sie Anaya and wife, Marianne and their daughter, Lauryn Anne of Los Alamos, NM. John is also survived by his brother, Henry Anaya (married to the late Emma Anaya); his sisters, Isabelle Garcia (married to the late Antonio Garcia) and Mary Lou Salazar (married to Hank Salazar). John served in World War II on the Naval USS New Jersey battleship (the most decorated ship during the War). He later attended Saint Michael's College in Santa Fe, NM. John then worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and followed by working at Sandia National Labs in Albuquerque, where he served for 41 years. John served on various boards and committees. These included: Sandia Labs Federal Credit Union Loan Review Board, Saint Joseph's Society in Galisteo, NM, Chairman of the State Committee for NM of Farm Service Agency for the US Department of Agriculture, appointed by the President Clinton Administration, the New Mexico Border Commission, appointed by our former Governor Bruce King. He was also a member in the New Mexico Livestock Association. John served as campaign manager for former State Treasurer, David King, and also assisted in the gubernatorial campaigns of our former Governor Bruce King, former Governor Tony Anaya, former Governor Jerry Apodaca, and former US House of Representative, Manuel Lujan. John also worked as a life-long rancher. Lauryn was John's only granddaughter, who loved him very much and he loved her. John, in his later years, befriended a young child by the name of Stirlin Harris who visited with him every Tuesday and who brought so much joy to John and his wife. John also wished to recognize his god-daughter, Cheryl Maturino, who spend many days helping him and his wife during their difficult last months. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, June 3, 2014, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. SW. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, June 4, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dennis Chavez, Mike Brinson (of Amarillo, TX), Mark Anaya, Gerald Garcia, Robert Martinez, Marty Padilla, Fred Anaya, John Maturino, Jason Saenz and Homer Velasco. Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Perea, and all of John's very special nieces and nephews.
