Johanna Marie McCroskey

Johanna Marie McCroskey, 24, of Merrillville, Indiana (formerly of Albuquerque, NM), went to Heaven on Sunday, March 22, 2015, after a 7 year battle with cancer. On March 24, 1990, a beautiful daughter, Johanna Marie, was born to her loving parents, Mark and Karen Forster of Albuquerque, New Mexico. At an early age, Johanna was known for her contagious spirit and love for life. She was an outstanding volleyball player through high school and endeared herself to all with her kind spirit, sweet smile, and eternal optimism. Johanna attended Hyles-Anderson College where she earned a degree in Secondary Education. It was at college while working in the campus clinic that Johanna met her future husband, Dave McCroskey. Dave and Johanna were married on July 20, 2012. On October 11, 2013, the Lord gave Dave and Johanna a priceless gift through the birth of their daughter, Macey Marie. Johanna was first diagnosed with cancer when she was 17 years old. She bravely and courageously fought the disease for seven years. Johanna never though that she would die from cancer, but rather was firm in her believe that God would heal her...and He did. Johanna is survived by her husband, Dave McCroskey; daughter, Macey Marie, age 1 1/2; her parents, Mark & Karen Forster of Albuquerque, NM; and her siblings: Tabitha, Sam, and Grace. Johanna was known and loved by all as a great friend, excellent Christian, and courageous fighter. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Memory Lane Funeral Home, 6305 W. Lincoln Highway (US 30), Crown Point, IN. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 473 Sibley, Hammond, IN. Another funeral service will be held at Johanna's home church, Bella Vista Baptist Church, 2800 Louisiana NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Tuesday, March 31, 2015, 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.
