Joey Edwin Basey

Basey, Joey Edwin, age 63, devoted husband, son, father, pastor, brother, uncle,
cousin, and friend went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 23,
2018, following one of the toughest and bravest journeys of his life, a 17-month long
battle against cancer. He fought the good fight of faith, always trusting and knowing
that his Lord Jesus Christ would never leave him nor forsake him.
Joey was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lindsey Basey, Sr. and Eleanor
Basey. He leaves behind to carry on his legacy of love and commitment to the
ministry of Jesus Christ his loving and supportive wife of 18 wonderful years, Gwyn J.
Basey. He is also survived by his son, Andre Dickson and grandson, D’Andre Dickson;
four sisters, Linda Jackson (Louis), Donna Basey, Wanda Smith (Marvin “Bo”), Debra
Basey; and one brother, Willie Lindsey Basey, Jr. He also leaves behind a host of
nieces, nephews, and friends that he loved with all of his heart and soul, along with his
church family, Restoration Ministries Church, where he loved, encouraged, and
embraced, every member and visitor with his anointed hugs.
Visitation will begin at 8:00am on Saturday, September 1, 2018, with the going home
celebration promptly following at 9:00am, at Restoration Ministries Church, 824 San
Mateo Blvd SE., Albuquerque, NM. Parking lot is located in the back on Ortiz St., with
auxiliary parking available at the southend of the Big Lot’s Parking Lot at 5555 Zuni Rd.
SE. Shuttle service between the parking lot and the church will be provided by
Herrera Coaches between 07:30 am and 12:00 pm.

Interment: Tuesday, September 4, 2017 at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd SE,
Albuquerque, NM at 11:30 am.
In lieu of floral arrangements, the family asks that donations be made to Restoration
Ministries Church in memory of Pastor Joey Basey.
