Joel Shedd, long-time resident of Albuquerque, died on February 21, 2025. He was 85. The cause of death was heart failure following a number of strokes.
Born in Atlanta, Ga, Joel Price Shedd, III, grew up in Washington D.C. and was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and George Washington University with degrees in history and accounting. He worked as an auditor for General Accounting Office, in Washington.
In Albuquerque, Joel was co-owner of a used book store and was a life-long reader and sports fan (especially for the Washington Redskins.) He retired at an early age and enjoyed visiting relatives and friends throughout the U.S. in his RV, especially going to family reunions in Cochran, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents Johnsie and Judge Joel Price Shedd Jr. Survivors include his older sister, Paula Shedd Kauffman of Denver, Colorado his younger sister, Margaret Shedd Amley (Ed Amley) of St. Petersburg, Florida, nephew, Ted Amley, of New York City, and niece, Hollis Amley Lawson (J. Mark Lawson) of St Petersburg, Florida . Interment will be with family members in Jesup, Ga.
