Joe E. Scott, of Corrales, N.M., passed away at the age of 86, on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice in Albuquerque. He was born to Esther Salzman Scott and Charles Sherman Scott of Wausau Co., IN on June 6, 1926. Joe attended Business College and was recruited by Wards Management Training Program in 1947. He moved to Albuquerque, was promoted to assistant manager and worked in stores throughout New Mexico.Joe then went to broadcasting school in Hollywood and graduated in 1954. He broadcast news and music from radio stations in Palm Springs, Corona, Pamona, and Santa Fe. Joe also broadcast on television in Las Vegas, NV and Grass Valley, CA. He owned and operated two video/ VCR rental stores in Woodland, CA. As a resident of Woodland, he was affectionately and well known as the "Guy With the Tie" at the Woodland Opera House where he became the "official greeter." He was active with Senior Olympics and competed as a stand-up comedian. He gave back to the community through his activities with Kiwanis International in Palm Springs, Rio Rancho and Corrales.Joe is survived by his wife of 7 years, Brigitte; daughter Jolie Wiebe of Placerville; stepdaughter Susan Tarleton of West Sacramento; grandchildren Winter Jenssen, Lauren Rose, Morgen Wiebe and Sarah Tarleton; great-granddaughter Raine Rose and cousin Delbert (Bud) Scott of Scottsville, Ky. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brothers David, Will, and Charles; sister Norma Briner and wife of 37 years Carol Vincent Scott. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
