JoAnne Margaret Kennedy

May 9, 1939 — June 14, 2024

JoAnne Margaret Kennedy was gracious, kind, patient and a wonderful role model for her family. She was brave, strong, artistic and adventurous and enjoyed traveling around the world seeking new experiences off the beaten path. She was an avid reader and tenaciously sought opportunities to learn new things and develop new skills. She was independent and loved spending time with the many important people in her life.

Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Robert Trombley and Clarissa Trombley (Amley), she was the second oldest of four siblings. Jim Trombley (deceased), Mary Jane Beisel-Cook, and Barbara Morgan. She attended Highland High School, where she met her first husband, Rex Boyden (deceased). Later, she attended the University of New Mexico and continued her creative pursuits with her sorority. She later met the love of her life, James (Ranny) Kennedy, who moved from Texas to New Mexico at a young age.

JoAnne and Ranny built a house together in Cedar Crest, where they gathered with family and friends over more than forty years in their home. They owned and operated a wholesale lumber company based in the East Mountains. They also loved visiting their cabin in Abiquiu, New Mexico where family and friends came to spend time with JoAnne and Ranny playing poker, bumper pool, and just enjoying quality time together.

Creativity was her greatest passion and she shared it with others throughout her life. She was creative from a young age making clothing, including uniforms for her sister’s cheer group. As an adult she hand-painted jackets and clothing and later explored many mediums, including painting in oils and watercolors, pastels, sculpting and many others. She loved to share her work and frequently sent hand painted greeting cards to family and friends. Her work has been shown in various exhibits throughout New Mexico, including Johnson’s Galleries, in Madrid, NM, the Kimo Theater; Achievement Gallery; San Acacia Gallery and the Old Governors Palace, in Santa Fe to name a few. She received countless awards for her work in community events including the State Fair and many others throughout the years. She was a member of the Pastel Society of New Mexico and a Signature member of the Watercolor Society. JoAnne loved to share her love of painting with her family and for all of them it is a cherished memory.

She will be dearly missed, and her memory will be cherished by her family and friends. JoAnne is survived by her sons, Jeff Boyden (deceased) and his wife Denise; Joe Boyden and wife Lynn; Lynn Kennedy and wife Suzanne, and daughter Glenda Rigdon and husband Doug. Her grandchildren Jacquelyn Cashman and husband Dusty, Amanda Taylor and husband John, Jennifer Boyden and wife Brandie Baca, Wade Boyden and wife Shirley, Zac Rigdon and wife Tessa, Scott Rigdon and wife Rachel, Kyle Kennedy and wife Savannah, Randy Kennedy and wife Svetlana.
