Our beloved mother, JoAnn Thompson went to the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2017 in Albuquerque, NM.
JoAnn was a resident of Truth of Consequences, NM. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mike Morrow; son, Donald Peterson (D.T.); granddaughter, Michelle Suggs; grandson, Garrett Peterson; great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Nordman; sisters, Louise and Duane Thompson,Theresa Black and John Cagalj; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and family; and best friend, Pat Masters. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mary Saponara.
She was born in August 1937 in McComb, Illinois and moved to Willcox, AZ at a very early age. JoAnn graduated from Willcox High School in 1955. She then attended college to get her L.P.N certification in New Mexico. JoAnn moved to T or C in 1975 and went to work at Sierra Vista Hospital until her health forced her to retire in 1995. While working there, she obtained her RN certification in 1988. JoAnn was initiated into Phi Theta Kappa, in Mach 1988. Nursing was her life. JoAnn loved reading, talking, watching the clouds and spending time with her family and friends. JoAnn Loved watching Nascar and Football, Washington Redskins. Mom was a very loving and caring person. A wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Cremation has taken place and per JoAnn's request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in JoAnn's name to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 1-800-424-8200.
