Joann Chavez

Joann Chavez, 81, beloved Wife, Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Friend, and Confidant was called to her eternal resting place on May 1, 2024. Joann entered heaven dancing her way through the streets made of gold while introducing herself to everyone she met on her way to run into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. At the moment Joann took her final breath on earth, hearts broke throughout Albuquerque, but those who love Joann know that when she took her first breath in heaven she was fully healed, restored, and made whole. Her family will forever consider it an honor to be with Joann in her final moments and to have been the last faces she saw on earth before she opened her eyes in heaven and saw the face of Jesus. 

Joann was born on December 25, 1942, in Albuquerque, NM, born to Willie and Tomasita Chavez, and enjoyed being celebrated at midnight on Christmas. Joann brought life, love, and joy to everyone that she met. She is survived by her husband, David Chavez; daughter, Marie Posey; son-in-law, Art Posey, Jr.; granddaughter; Ashley; grandson; Brandon (Crescynthia); great-grandson; Aiden; and great-granddaughter; Dorothy. Joann will be greatly missed by her family including many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends that became family. Life will never be the same without Joann but her family will carry her fun spirit with them wherever they go. 

Joann wanted the world to know that she loved Jesus, her babe David, her one and only Marie, her whole family, everybody she knew, and the casino. #ohwell

A viewing will be held Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. followed by a rosary at 8:15 a.m. and Mass at 9:00 a.m., at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Rd. SW. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary. A reception will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church following the burial.
