Joann (Martin) Casey

Joann Martin Casey, age 85, beloved wife and mother, was called to her eternal rest on Monday, February 21, 2022. She was born on the 3rd of July 1936, in Albuquerque, NM. Joann was preceded in death by her father, Virgil L. Martin; mother, Gladys E. Martin; and her husband, Eugene F. Casey. She is survived by her son, Louis T. Titus of Houston, TX; daughter, Laurie E. Carlson of Albuquerque, NM; son-in-law, Denis Lee Carlson Jr. of Albuquerque, NM; and grandson, Martin A Carlson of Albuquerque, NM.

Joann was a 1954 graduate of Highland High School in Albuquerque where she was captain of the drill team. She was crowned Honored Queen of Jobs Daughter in 1954-1955. She worked for Braniff Airlines as a flight attendant from 1956 to 1960. Joann married Gene Casey, an Albuquerque Police Officer in 1967, they were married for 43 years until his passing in 2010.

Joann, and Gene retired to Hesperus, Colorado where she was active with dog shows. She was an avid reader, her favorite were mysteries, but she would read anything that caught her eye. She loved gardening and cooking. At the time of her passing, she resided with her daughter Laurie, where she enjoyed watching her grandson grow up and graduate high school. She spent many days sitting in the backyard enjoying the pond, and flowers.
At Joann's request, no services will be held. Her final resting place will be next to Gene at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.

There will be an open house in her honor at the home of her daughter on Saturday, February 26th, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. For directions and more information please contact Laurie Carlson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fraternal Order of Police.
