Joan Wilkie

Joan Wilkie, age 92, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away December 4, 2017. Joan was always cheerful, optimistic, and looked for the best in everyone. She was born June 30, 1925 in Philadelphia, and grew up in New York City. Joan graduated from New York University and worked for many years as an elementary school teacher.
Joan was preceded in death by her son, Michael Wilkie; and husband, John Wilkie. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Wilkie and husband, Peter Olsho of Philadelphia; son, Dr. James Wilkie and wife, Susan Andrews of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Jessica Manning and husband, Chris of Phoenix; grandsons, Major Alex Wilkie and wife, Irina of Honolulu; Sgt. Andrew Wilkie and wife, Samantha of Olympia, WA; and Steven Wilkie of Lubbock, TX. In addition, Joan had eight great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the wonderful care Joan received at La Vida Llena and from Ambercare Hospice. Interment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery has taken place.
