Joan S. Brown

Joan S. Brown, a loving mother, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18th, at the age of 87.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Brown Sr., her parents Elmer and Hildreth Schoen, and several loving K9 companions.
She is survived by her daughter Vickie L. Brown and her son Ralph "Skip" Brown both of Albuquerque, and sisters Marlene Blevins of Maryland and Barbara Morgan of Michigan.
She was born in Adrian, Michigan. She graduated from Hillsdale College in Michigan where she was a proud member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. After graduation she went to work at Kellogg Center at Michigan State University where she met her future husband Ralph. She married Ralph in 1952 and then spent the next five years moving around the southern United States while Ralph served in the Air Force. The family then moved to Albuquerque in 1958 when Ralph was hired by Sandia National Laboratories. Joan was a stay at home mom who was very involved in her children's activities as well as volunteering at the main library. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Joan also enjoyed flower gardening, traveling here and abroad, and spending time at the cabin the family built in southwest Colorado.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 9th, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Interment will follow on Friday, January 15th, 2016 at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
