Jimmy Hurt, 88 was born in Cumberland County, IL in April 1933 and went peacefully in his sleep to be with the Lord January 11, 2022. Jimmy got parental permission to join the US Army when he was 17 years old serving two years in Korea. He married Nancy Thompson in 1956. Jimmy worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for over 30 years working in Abiquiu, NM and Benbrook, TX. He enjoyed woodworking and Jeep restoration. He was an outdoorsman and loved hunting, camping, fishing, and spending time in the mountains. Jimmy is survived by his children, Brenda Hurt Trujillo (Fidel), Andy Hurt, and Tom Hurt (Robyn); his grandchildren, Eli Trujillo, Jacob Trujillo, Brendan “Bammer” Tuning, and Dusten Tuning; and great-grandson, Trace Trujillo. He is also survived by many extended family members and cherished friends. Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Hurt; daughter, Rosemarie Hurt; parents, Alva and Sarah Ann Lewis Hurt; and his six older siblings. A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at FRENCH– Westside. A committal service will be held Monday, January 31, 2022, 10:30 a.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
