On September 30, 2022, Jim B. Jones, Loving husband, father, and grandfather was called to his heavenly home at the age of 92.
Jim was born on November 9, 1929, in Streetman, Texas to Jenretta and Burton Jones and was the youngest of fifteen children. On February 25, 1955, he married Eleanor Jones who he referred to as his pride and joy! Jim was the father of four children Mary, Wayne, Michelle, and Bruce.
As an undergrad, Jim attended Houston-Tillostson University in Austin, Texas. Jim and Eleanor moved from Texas to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1966. He received his Master's Degree in Education from the University of New Mexico and went on to work and retire as an Elementary School Principal from the Albuquerque Public School System.
Jim was a dedicated servant of the Lord and served as a Deacon at Berean Baptist Church for many years and was a devoted member of Fellow Missionary Baptist Church until the time of his passing. Jim shared his love of the Lord with everyone he met! He started a prison ministry to share the plan of salvation with those who were incarcerated. He was also an active member of the Elks club and the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. He lived a life of service to his church, family, and community.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Burton Jones; his mother, Jeneretta Jones; his grandson, Derek Christian; and his fourteen siblings. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Jones; his four children, Mary Christian, Wayne (Joani) Jones, Michelle (Celia) Jones, and Bruce Jones; his five grandchildren, Artealous (Denise) Christian III, Kimberly Jones, Cody (Ngoc-hoa) Jones, Tyson (Emma) Jones, and Adrienne Jones; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We will carry on his legacy of faith, love, and service with us always.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 17, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH - University. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
