Jesse Vernon Vig

Jesse Vernon Vig, 64, beloved son, brother and uncle, was called to his eternal resting place on September 19, 2019. He entered this world on August 30, 1955, in Denver, Colorado, born to Charles and Norma Vig. Jesse enjoyed his studies at the University of New Mexico, especially his classes and field studies in anthropology. Through the years, he had various jobs that required him to travel throughout the Land of Enchantment. He had friends and acquaintances north, south, east and west. His favorite work experience was at Faith Lutheran Church where he served as Facilities Manager for ten years. Jesse was a simple man who believed there were no strangers in life, just friends he had yet to meet. He enjoyed road trips to the Midwest and into the New Mexico wilderness with his buddy, Bruce Wilder. Even though he was an avid hunter, Jesse never had the heart to shoot anything. Together they checked two items off their bucket list when they saw Neil Young in concert at the Red Rocks Ampitheatre.

Jesse was preceded in death by his father, Charles. He is survived by his mother Norma Vig; sister Susie Wabik; niece Jennifer Marquez and husband Mario; and his great nephews and niece Diego, Isaiah, Matthew, Isabella and Leo in whom he took great pride. They brought him much joy and he was truly like a grandfather to each of them. Visitation will take place at Faith Lutheran Church, 10000 Spain Rd NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87111 on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Friends and neighbors are welcome to attend both and enjoy the meal that will be served in Fellowship Hall afterward.
