Jesse G. Lopez

b. November 19, 2015

Lopez, Jesse G.
Jesse G. Lopez, 87, born July 30, 1928. Our beloved father and grandfather left us on November 19, 2015, to join our beautiful mother, Delia, whom he dearly missed. Jesse was born in Albuquerque, NM to Leonides Lopez and Maria Gonzalez Lopez. Jesse lived his early years with his parents, six sisters, and brother in the railroad community of Espora, in the south side of Albuquerque. At the age of 18, Jesse lost his beloved mother. Before the passing of Jesse's mom, our dad's fate would be to meet his wife and life partner of 69 years, Delia Garcia. Delia was at Jesse's side at the loss of his beloved mother. Jesse was born into a hard working family and in his grade school years he realized education and learning was his path to a life of choices and freedom. He spoke proudly of his teacher, Miss Nenna. Jesse was a Purple Heart veteran of the Armed Forces and was honored for his service in the United States Navy and the U.S. Army and was sent to Virginia with an assignment to Special Forces at the Pentagon. After serving his country, Jesse attended UNM to study law. Jesse was also considered to attend medical school in Kansas but our mom convinced Jesse to stay in Albuquerque so Jesse stayed and graduated in 1954 from the College of St. Joseph on the Rio Grande. When Jesse came to live in Los Duranes back in the 1940s, there was no electricity, gas, or plumbing. Jesse helped bring these utilities into Duranes and our mom was so proud of him for it. Jesse also was a plumbing and electrical contractor and a general contractor licensed to work in the State of New Mexico with 13 state licenses overall. Jesse was so proud that he started the first plumbing school at TVI (now called CNM), along with the nursing program in its early formation with Mayor Louis Saavedra. Our dad never got credit for this but he was so proud of it. Our dad was amazing. The story of our dad's accomplishments could go on and on and we are so proud of our father. Our mother passed on January 30, 2015 and everyday our father prayed for her and he waited to be with her. Our dad was very lonely without our mom. Now our dad is at peace. This brings us great joy. Our dad's strong belief in God and in prayer were heard by our Lord. Jesse's last few months were spent enjoying his very special great grandson, Nico Rey Saiz. Jesse leaves behind his sons, Jesse Jr. Lopez (Patricia), Eddie Lopez (Christine) and his daughters Maria Crosley (Larry), Joella Apodaca (Michael) and Julie Lopez-Casaus (Ronnie) and many, many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Jesse also raised Michael Murdoch as his son and took great joy in guiding all his grandchildren. Jesse is preceded in death by his daughters Rebecca Ortiz and Jesuscita Murdoch and Kelly Murdoch and a special granddaughter, Michelle Renee Garcia. A very special thanks to all his caregivers and to the VA Hospital for their great service.
