Jerry Joseph Nieto, 88, went home to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, October 7, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father, Tomas Nieto; mother, Dora Aragon; son, Gerald Nieto; sister, Helen Phillips; and his former wife of 27 years, Louise Nieto. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Peggy Nieto of Mesa, Arizona; sister, Pauline Kirchner and husband, Bob Kirchner of Longview, WA; brothers, Louie Nieto of Minden, NV, and Joe Nieto of Portland, OR; daughters, Christine Keefe of Albuquerque, NM, Yvette Nieto and husband, Doug Bowles of Columbia, MO, Monique Horcasitas and husband, Alex Horcasitas of San Antonio, TX, Dawn Clark and husband, Jason Clark of Buckeye, AZ, Deborah King and husband, Marvin King of Phoenix, AZ, and Deidre Brown and husband, Tracy Brown of Phoenix, AZ; and son, Jeffrey Nieto of Santa Fe, NM. Jerry had 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He also had many beloved nieces and nephews.
Jerry graduated from the College of Santa Fe with a bachelor's degree and taught English for 20 years. He was a beloved coach of Little League, Babe Ruth baseball, American Legion baseball, high school basketball, high school baseball, and high school soccer. He played drums for many years and was part of many bands. He loved his family and enjoyed fishing and camping.
A very special thanks to his granddaughter, Devin Lujan for the special care she provided to him in the final months leading to his death. A special thanks to Angel Wings and the angels that took such wonderful care of Mr. Nieto.
A Memorial Service and Rosary will be scheduled at a later time.
