Jerome Gerald Beckman September 15, 1931 - May 20, 2015 Jerome "Jerry" Gerald Beckman passed away at his home Wednesday, May 20, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer with his wife Barbara providing care for him. Jerry was born in Milwaukee, WI on September 15, 1931 and spent his childhood there known affectionately by his siblings as "Dody" until he joined the United States Air Force. He served as a medical corpsman for 21 years and retired as a decorated Senior Master Sergeant and found Albuquerque his home. Along the way, Jerry received a Master's Degree with honors from the University of Nebraska Omaha. Jerry was instrumental in several areas of training and education for emergency services personnel during his tenure at the University of New Mexico. He served in many ways and touched many people in his rewarding life and always had time to chat with everyone he met. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his two sons, Ron Beckman and his wife, Bernice, of Pagosa Springs, CO, Mark Beckman and his wife, Rose, of Alamogordo, NM; granddaughter, Danielle, of Denver, CO; his brother, Bill Beckman and his wife, Magda of Julian, CA; his sisters, Pat Ash, of Julian, CA and Jan and her husband Lou Liepens, of East Troy, WI. Jerry was preceded in death by Beverly Joan Beckman and also by his brother, Phil and sister, Carol. Jerry was well-loved and a good husband, father, brother, mentor, and neighbor. He was a cook, avid outdoorsman, friend, teacher, car buff, and loved life. He cared deeply about people in need elsewhere and worked on the board in Christ The Ray Of Hope Lutheran Church. Friends may visit FRENCH - Wyoming on Sunday, May 24, 2015 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ The Ray of Hope Lutheran Church, 7001 San Antonio Dr. NE Alb., NM 87109.
